Anne Frank - Stage Adaption

The play started off after the war when Mr. Frank and Miep return to the warehouse attic in 1945. Miep then shows Mr. Frank Anne’s diary and as he begins to read the time goes back to 1942. The Franks are now getting ready to leave their house to their new hiding place. Anne begins to explain what’s been occurring in Germany and says that Jews now had to wear yellow stars, they had many restrictions, and that she could no longer attend school. After that she says that the one morning she woke up and she and her sister, Margot, were told to put on as much clothes as possible because it’d be suspicious if they were to walk around with suitcases. When they get there they see that the Van Daans are already there. Mr. Van Daan is described as large and tall, in his late forties and Mrs. Van Daan is described as a pretty woman also in her forties. Peter is their only son and he seems like a shy, awkward boy who’s sixteen. Anne and Peter would still keep learning thanks to Miep. She would bring them books to study with. A couple of months later Mr. Kraler, who also helped the Franks and Van Daans, asked if another Jew, Mr. Dussel, could move in for a while. The Franks said yes but the Van Daans were upset. Mr. Dussel was a dentist, he and Anne didn’t get along at all because he didn’t agree with what she did and he and Peter didn’t get along as well. In time Anne and Peter grew closer and soon they fell in love. One night they heard something at the bottom and when Mr. Frank went to go see what it was and it was a thief. The thief took the cash box and the radio but worst of all the thief now knew that someone was living in the attic. They knew they would get caught and all that was left to do was wait. As they waited they soon found out Mr. Van Daan had been stealing food from them for two years. In the end of the play the Gestapo captures them.
